Medicinal Plant Bio-diversity has changed !
Medicinal plants bio-diversity has changed a lot as well. The increased use of chemicals in the form of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers have a definite role in the matter. Apart from this, common property resources in the form of common land, roads and water bodies have given way to farming. The local medicinal plants that used to thrive in those areas are facing threats. Grazing land have decreased steadily. The Govt.s have distributed the common lands to the poor people. The common land for village playground, disposal of carcasses have also vanished dramatically. The mango orchards, bamboo plantations have decreased due to ‘disturbance’ from other villagers. The local indigenous medicinal plants have drastically diminished due to these factors !
